Cosmopolitan Anti Glycation Review

THE FACIAL THAT FIXES SUGAR DAMAGE

Glycation is a bit of a buzzword in beauty at the moment. Never heard of it? Allow us to explain. When there’s too much sugar in your system, sugar molecules attach themselves to proteins, forming new baddy molecules called AGEs (Advanced Glycation End Products). These baddy molecules cause surrounding proteins such as collagen and elastin (responsible for keeping skin looking plump and youthful) to stiffen – DARN!

In response to the nation’s sudden glycation obsession, anti-ageing beauty brands have switched their attention to collagen-restoring, AGE-fighting, enzyme-boosting ingredients in the war against wrinkles. Naturally, facials have evolved too.

The Germaine de Capuccini Timeexpert C+ (A.G.E) Anti-Glycation Facial (available nationwide) uses pure vitamin C and ume extract (a protein-packed Japanese plum) to minimize glycation. We got invited along to the rather lush Spa Illuminata in Mayfair, London, to give it a try (oh, go on then!).

This is one seriously luxurious treatment, kicking off with a Japanese-inspired double cleanse using warm towels, and some lifting and contouring massage. The facial also makes good use of the brand’s hero product, the Pure C Essence Ampoules – pure shots of vitamin C that visibly boost skin’s appearance like nothing else I’ve ever used before.

You could also try eating less cake… maybe… small steps, small steps.
